Cheshire Wedding Photographer
“We couldn’t have picked a better person to photograph our wedding. Professional, friendly and just an awesome person.”
Chris & Vicky
As a Cheshire wedding photographer, it has to be one of my favourite places to photograph weddings.
It’s got everything. Rural barn weddings in rustic farmhouse settings like The Oak Tree of Peover, or Sandhole Oak Barn.
Or 17th century country houses with formal gardens like Hilltop Country House.
Or spectacular historic buildings like Combermere Abbey. There’s so much choice.
And at less than hour’s drive from Manchester, it couldn’t be easier to get to. And the airport is so close, at quite a few Cheshire wedding venues you can’t use a drone, due to airspace regulations.
Here’s some of my favourite places for wedding photography in Cheshire – if you can’t see your preferred location here, head over to my ‘Featured Weddings’ page, and you’ll probably find your Cheshire wedding venue there.
Heaton House
It’s a gorgeous family-run farmhouse venue, with so much potential to do it your way – there’s four different ceremony locations to choose from. The bridal prep room is stunning, and holds a secret that only Heaton House brides (and their photographers) will know about!
It’s been featured on BBC’s ‘Don’t Tell The Bride’ – and it’s also where my wife Laura and I tied the knot in 2014. It was effortless. From bonkers gin requests to sorting out the centrepieces on the day, they handled everything we threw at them with no fuss. They really went the extra mile for us.
Owen House
At Owen House, it’s ‘go big or go home’. Hands down, some of the very best weddings – and the best parties – I’ve ever seen were at Owen House.
What I love most is how it’s packed with features that are just for the bride and groom. Like the secret shooting gallery with a concealed entrance, for taking wedding portrait shots. And for once, the groom’s room is just as impressive as the bridal prep room, with barber’s chairs and table football to keep the groomsmen busy.
The owner, Dan, is a photographer. You can tell. Everything’s been designed to look cool AF.
Stock Farm
Stock Farm Barn is part of the Tatton Estate – it used to be a working stables, but now it’s a dedicated events space with two barns, and 18th century farmhouse, all laid out round a lovely little courtyard. It’s surrounded by beautiful woodlands, but the layout means that everything’s more or less within 75 metres, which saves a lot of traipsing about.
I love shooting in the main barn – there’s a really high, fairy-lit ceiling that gives your shots atmosphere and drama. It’s one of the best spaces for wedding photography Cheshire has.
The team here are brilliant to work with – it’s totally dog-friendly too. And they’ve got Flaming Gourmand on the approved caterers list. If you don’t know how good that is, then I’m jealous, because that means you get to try it for the first time. Brazilian BBQ heaven.
Styal Lodge
Wicked little venue. It’s really simple, but it’s completely customisable – there’s so much you can do with it. There’s a lot of contemporary touches that make it stand out visually.
The main thing I love about Styal Lodge weddings is working with Bethan and Laura, the two wedding coordinators. They are sooo much fun. They’ve got this mad puppy dog excitement that they bring to every single wedding they plan. I just know I’m going to enjoy being there – they really look after me, same as they look after everyone who comes to Styal Lodge.
“Working with Nik was incredible. He put us so at ease and is such a fun guy to chat to. His style just blew us away. Not pretentious, but special and full of creativity and flare. He was the best we’d seen by miles. He’s a lovely human being and so talented. We cannot state how appreciative we are of his work.”
Dan & Rhiannon
“I saw one photograph and knew instantly Nik had to be my photographer!”
