Intimate Wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn – Dan and Rhiannon
“Working with Nik was incredible. He put us so at ease and is such a fun guy to chat to. His work just blew us away. Not pretentious, but special and full of creativity and flare.”
I don’t think we stopped chatting and laughing together from the moment I met up with Dan and Rhiannon in my local pub. We spent the whole evening talking about music and I knew I had to be their wedding photographer! Luckily they felt the same, phew!
They’d booked Sandhole Oak Barn for their wedding day, Rhiannon told me that they’d fallen in love with it as soon as they saw the barn and the idyllic lakeside setting. No other venue compared. They were planning a small wedding day which Sandhole is absolutely perfect for. The ceremony room, with views out over the lake, is cosy and intimate and they both really liked that they could spend the whole day at Sandhole, from morning preparations right through until their evening party. The team there are fantastic too and really looked after them both.
Small, intimate weddings
I am a big fan of small, intimate wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good party and a packed dancefloor but I’m a huge advocate of couples planning a day their way, however big or small a celebration it ends up being.
Rhiannon and Dan had definitely done things their way. From writing their own vows to the origami cranes and the table centrepieces – fictional places from film and TV series. As a fellow nerd I couldn’t resist spending some time checking out all the cool memorabilia they’d sourced and generally geeking out over it!
Speaking of the origami cranes, Dan and Rhiannon had realised that they were the Japanese symbol for ‘good luck’ so spent many, many evenings making hundreds of them to decorate the wedding barn. Those hours of work paid off, the effect was incredible.
Weddings at Sandhole Oak Barn
Nestled in the Cheshire countryside, just outside Congleton, Sandhole Oak Barn is a stunning wedding barn with a beautiful lakeside setting. Couples can either hold their wedding ceremony in the barn, under the oak beams, as Dan and Rhiannon did. Or, if the weather is looking good, then couples can say their vows outside underneath the Clock Tower overlooking the lake.
The team at Sandhole are amazing, I’m always really well looked after and I know how much they put into making the wedding day incredible for couples and their guests. Dan and Rhiannon had the best wedding day, Rhiannon couldn’t stop smiling from the moment she set eyes on Dan. She later told me that walking into the barn for the ceremony and seeing Dan was one of her favourite moments of the day. For Dan it was straight after the ceremony, being enveloped in hugs by his family and friends and realising he was finally married to Rhiannon! What a feeling!
These are just a few of my highlights from their day.
