Cheshire wedding photography – Katie and Jamie
Way back in 2012 Katie and Jamie met online. Yep, they did the online dating thing way before it was ‘a thing’. Katie is from North Wales but got chatting to Mancunian Jamie. As luck would have it she was due to move to Manchester for university, it was fate!
In the ten years they’ve been together they’ve travelled the world, bought a house, got a new member of the gang (their little boy, Theo) and now, they’re married!
Styal Lodge wedding
Styal Lodge is one of my all time favourite Cheshire wedding venues. It’s a family run, exclusive use venue tucked away in the quaint village of Styal. Surrounded by green fields and a beautiful landscaped garden area it’s the perfect location for spring and summer weddings. Katie and Jamie’s September day was overcast but warm, a photographer’s dream! Haha!
That morning I joined Katie and her bridesmaids in the Bridal Room at Styal Lodge. This is a great space for getting ready in, patio doors open out onto the garden, there’s loads of lovely natural light and it’s right next to the ceremony room, meaning however long it takes to get ready it’s pretty much impossible to be late!
I nipped outside just in time to catch a smiling Jamie arriving at the venue. He looked very dashing in his navy suit and was grinning away as he chatted to guests. As everyone took their seats I dashed back inside to capture Katie putting her dress on. Wow! It was super unique and she looked amazing. I’m reliably informed by my wife that a dress with pockets is the dream…well, Katie’s wedding dress had pockets. Yep,it was the ideal dress in every way!
Intimate and beautiful wedding ceremony
As Katie made her way down the aisle a little voice shouted out, “Mummy! Princess!” Theo couldn’t take his eyes off his Mum, he was absolutely entranced by her and her dress. Jamie was blown away when he saw her too, but he kept his cool and greeted her with a kiss and a huge smile. Katie told me that she absolutely loved the ceremony, they held hands, kept their eyes on each other and it felt like they were the only two people in the room. It is such a privilege to be a part of moments like that, to be up front and centre, capturing the emotion of two people committing their lives to each other. Katie and Jamie’s beautiful ceremony was another reminder to me not to take this job for granted.

After the ceremony it was time to celebrate. Katie and Jamie are so chilled out, they just wanted to have a brilliant time with their guests. They emerged from the ceremony into a cloud of brightly coloured confetti before being engulfed in hugs from their family and friends. After they’d spent some time mingling we jumped onto a golf buggy and whizzed off to the lake for some photographs. It’s so tranquil and quiet down there, it’s the perfect spot for some romantic portraits.
I’m one of Styal Lodge’s recommended wedding photographers and absolutely love shooting here, Cheshire is just down the road from me so you can often find me at one of the many incredible wedding venues in the county. If you’re getting married and need a Cheshire wedding photographer then get in touch. I’d love to chat about your plans.
